Medications: What Residential Staff Need to Know (RESIDENTIAL ONLY)

This course is designed to educate residential childcare staff on best practice and proper protocol for administering medication to children and youth in their care. Outlined are the roles and responsibilities required of staff in order to be authorized by the state of NH to administer medications. Safe storage procedures, accurate documentation, and information regarding medical orders are covered. Participants explore the different categories of medications and look into the effects of medications on children’s body systems. Participants learn the correct protocol for administering prescription and non – prescription drugs and how to react to situations of medication occurrences. Reliable health resources are identified.
